This privacy policy governs your use of the Novel Star software application (“Application”) on a mobile device. The Application was created by Summit Apps LLC. Application includes a digital reading platform featuring books and stories across multiple genres (mystery, fantasy, thriller, romance, and more), personalized book recommendations, reading progress tracking, and a personal library management system

 

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

The Application collects two types of information: User Provided Information and Automatically Collected Information. User Provided Information includes your name, age (optional), preferred book categories and genres, story preferences, lead character preferences, reading progress, bookshelf selections, and viewed books—all used to personalize your reading experience and provide recommendations tailored to your interests. Automatically Collected Information includes a unique device identifier generated on your device, platform information (iOS or Android), and subscription status through our third-party payment processor (RevenueCat). This automatically collected data enables core functionality such as saving your reading progress across sessions, managing your personal library, and processing subscription purchases. All reading progress, bookshelf data, and viewed books are stored locally on your device using secure local storage, while onboarding preferences are stored in our secure database to provide personalized book recommendations. We do not collect personally identifiable information beyond what you voluntarily provide during onboarding, and your device identifier cannot be used to identify you personally.

 

User Provided Information – The Application obtains the information you provide when you download and register the Application. Registration with us is mandatory to be able to use the basic features of the Application. When you use the Application, you provide: (a) your name and age (optional) during onboarding; (b) your book genre preferences and reading interests to personalize recommendations; (c) transaction-related information when you make in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (payment information is processed by Apple or Google, not by us); (d) reading activity data such as books you view, reading progress, and books you save to your bookshelf (stored locally on your device). We use this information to personalize your reading experience and recommend books. We may contact you with important information, required notices, and marketing promotions.

 

Automatically Collected Information – The Application automatically generates a unique device identifier locally on your device (stored securely on your device) and may collect: (a) your device type and operating system (iOS or Android) for compatibility; (b) connection information such as IP address when accessing our servers; (c) usage information about how you interact with the Application (primarily stored locally on your device). Our third-party payment processor (RevenueCat) may also collect device and platform information necessary for subscription management. Most of your reading data (bookshelf, progress, viewed books) is stored locally on your device and is not automatically transmitted. We use this information to improve the Application and provide personalized recommendations.

 

Does the Application collect precise real time location information of the device?

This Application does not collect precise information about the location of your mobile device.

 

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the

Application? 

Yes. We will share your information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.

We may disclose User Provided Information and Automatically Collected Information:  as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request; with our trusted services providers who work on our behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

If Novel Star is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our

website of any change in ownership or uses of this information, as well as any choices you may have regarding this information;

 

Opt-out of all information collection by uninstalling the Application – You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling the Application. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

 

Data Retention Policy, Managing Your Information

We will retain User Provided Information for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you’d like us to delete User Provided Information that you have provided via the Application, please contact us at jack@summitappmarketing.com and we will respond in a reasonable time. Please note that some or all of the User Provided Information may be required for the Application to function properly, and we may be required to retain certain information by law.

 

Children

We do not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at jack@summitappmarketing.com. We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.

 

Security

We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorized employees and contractors who need to know that information to operate, develop or improve our Application. Please be aware that, although we endeavor to provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.

 

Changes

If you reside outside the U.S. your information will be transferred to the U.S., and processed and stored there under U.S. privacy standards. By using the Application and providing information to us, you consent to such transfer to, and processing in, the U.S.
